After he was honoured with an Honorary degree by the University of Dar es Salaam over the weekend, Tanzanian singer Diamond says he will continue to use music to promote culture.

“I thank the University for the great honour. I also thank fans for listening to my music. Music is a tool that can promote culture and national unity as well as growth and I will continue to make songs that promote Tanzania across the world,” he said. “As an artiste, I want to exploit art and culture globally and I am grateful for this award.”

The Number One singer was awarded on Saturday for his role in exporting Tanzanian’s art and culture globally. Diamond is arguably the most popular artiste in East Arica, currently. He launched his singing career in 2009 and has since been releasing hit songs that attract mass appeal across the globe.
