Just hours after the FUFA referees Standing Committee (FRSC) released a list of referees to preside over the Uganda Cup final replay between SC Villa and KCCA FC, there has been a sudden change of events as the same federation came out to announce the appointment of Kenyan referees.
With the final set to be replayed today at the Mandela National stadium, Namboole, this is what the federation came out to say.
‘We confirm the appointment of referees by the Kenya Football Federation for the Uganda cup final. Our request was granted and both clubs have welcomed the decision for international referees handle the match,” FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein remarked.
The referees appointed by the Kenyan Football Federation are; Odhiambo Oliver Omondi (Center Referee) who will be assisted by Otieno Andrew Juma and Tony Mudayi Kidiya. Alex Muhabi will be the 4th official.
Earlier on FUFA had named Alex Muhabi as the center Referee with Bugembe Hussein and Katenya Ronald as the first and second assistant referees respectively while the fourth official was Ochom Joseph.
However, Mawanda Haruna and Fufa Vice president, Darius Mugoye maintain their positions as the match assessor and match commissioner respectively.
