Liverpool striker and Premier League top scorer Luis Suarez won PFA’s Player of the Year award ahead of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Manchester City’s Yaya Touré on Sunday night.
The 27 years old Uruguayan, who has gone on to score 30 Premier League goals in 31 appearances, fire Liverpool towards what could be a first league title in 24 years.
Suarez received the award after being chosen by his fellow top-flight professionals in England as the outstanding player in the Premier League.
“The Premier League is full of really great players and so it is a great honour when these players recognise your work on the pitch,” Suarez said.
Eden Hazard, absent for Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Liverpool on Sunday due to injury, has been rewarded for his fine season at Chelsea by scooping the Young Player of the Year award at the age of 23.
“It’s always good to win awards because it means you’ve had a good season, but I prefer to win things collectively.” Hazard said.
