You will hear people say that without drinks and food, a party doesn’t really add up for them. But have you ever turned for a party, and the urge to leave immediately grips you? Like you just say to yourself,” am done here, am leaving”.
On another night, you will walk into a party and your mood is changed that instant. You become energized immediately, you run to your friends and the party is super turned up and you will run to your Facebook account and update,”Ba people am having a blast”. It’s the DJ that makes that difference ladies and gentlemen.
Many times the role of the DJ has been overlooked. DJ’s have been underpaid in nightspots and you have got to feel for them because the value they bring to the nightlife and entertainment in general is HUGE. But trust me without a good DJ, your party is doomed. True Story. You can as well pack up your food and drinks if your Dj isn’t up to scratch. So much is the impact of DJ that a mood of a crowd is reflected when a Dj is dropping mad tunes or when a DJ is for lack of a better word,CRAPPY!!.A good Dj will engage the crowd, understand the crowd and will go on a hit dropping spree.
The Ugandan Dj industry is young but a few talented guys have come through to make our nights worthwhile and make life commitments to the dancefloor. Freelance Dj’s like DJ Apeman have made us take refuge on the dancefloor, DJ Beekay has been spinning for a while, Dj Aludah spins on radio and the clubs too has won many Dj contests and has been unrivalled in dropping the biggest dancehall tunes. He has also mixed on Channel O,Dj Shiru has by far been the most popular with gigs on tv, radio and the clubs as well. Special homage has to be given to the likes of Dj Alex of Capital who set the ground for Dj’s to penetrate.
These Dj’s have thrown many of our artistes like Bebe Cool, Chameleone, Radio and Weasel into the spotlight by dropping their hits that we have grown to love. Its a shame though that many of our artistes move around with airs after attaining fame and fortune but never pay tribute to one of the biggest stakeholders in the showbiz and entertainment industry. So it’s high time these guys are given more credit and more value is attached to their craft. Big up to all DJ’s making it happen
