Celebrated Ugandan singer Hajjat Stecia Mayanja has opened up about the painful memories of her marriage to ex-husband Abbas Mubiru, revealing that she personally covered all the expenses during their wedding ceremonies.
Speaking out for the first time in a while about her short-lived marriage, Stecia disclosed that Abbas offered no financial support during the events, leaving her to handle everything on her own.
“I met all the costs alone. It still hurts me when I think about it,” she said in an interview.
Stecia Mayanja met Abbas Mubiru in January 2015. After just three months of dating, Abbas proposed, and by March of that same year, the two were officially married.
However, the union quickly turned sour.
According to the singer, she later discovered that Abbas was part of a group of men known for targeting wealthy women, pretending to fall in love with them before exploiting them financially. This discovery led to the breakdown of their marriage.
Stecia’s experience serves as a warning to others about the dangers of rushing into relationships without proper background checks.
Despite the heartbreak, the singer continues to focus on her career and personal growth.
