In this moment of commiseration for the football fraternity and the entire nation at large, State House on behalf of the Uganda government will meet all the costs of having Abel Dhaira’s body flown back to the country. A fee of $15,000 (about Ugx 50 million) is required to have the former IBV (Iceland) goalkeeper returned home.
However, it isn’t known yet on which particular day he will be brought back.
On the same note, the local football governing body (FUFA) has set up a five man committee to handle the burial arrangements. According to the federation’s website, the committee consists of FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha, Rugyendo Arinaitwe (Chairman FUFA Super League Limited Board), Norah Nassimbwa (State House), Katende Ssemakula (National Council of sports), Mayemba Faisal (Abel Dhaira’s family Member).
The committee is responsible for; Drawing the programme and mobilisation of resources required in the arrangement, bringing back the body from Iceland and handling all arrangements for the funeral service in Uganda.
