StarTimes to broadcast UEFA Euro 2020 and European Qualifiers

Africa’s leading pay-TV operator StarTimes announces it acquired UEFA National Team Football broadcasting rights between 2019 and 2022.

The company has secured transmission rights for exploitation in all countries across sub-Saharan Africa, excluding South Africa, and on all media platforms.

Football events include UEFA EURO 2020 which will be played from 12th June to 12th July next year, as well as Qualifiers to EURO 2020, UEFA Nations League 2020/21 and European Qualifiers to FIFA World Cup 2022. All national friendlies are also part of the contract.

StarTimes Sport Director Shi Maochu said that “StarTimes is proud to announce the acquisition of UEFA National Team Football rights. Euro 2020 will be the No.1 football competition next year; it will feature some of the best teams in the world, including both finalists of last World Cup, France and Croatia. And to make sure fans get fully ready, we’ll broadcast all European qualifiers matches starting from the coming match day on September 5th.”

StarTimes will broadcast European Qualifiers on its 5 sports channels, as well as on StarTimes ON streaming application, live and in HD in all Sub-Saharan Africa.

“We always seek to bring the best sport content to our subscribers like Copa America we broadcasted last month or ICC which is airing at the moment. And by acquiring all UEFA national team football events, we make sure our subscribers can enjoy the best m atches up to next FIFA World Cup.”

Apart from national teams, StarTimes is airing numerous club football competitions such as UEFA Europa League, French Ligue 1, Bundesliga and Coppa Italia. StarTimes is also FIBA World Cup China 2019 exclusive broadcaster in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Lubi Lubi has lived in South Africa since 2014 and has mostly been a song writer until his ‘Kansasanye’ where he feels his singing passion should come alive. He has promised many more songs this year off his upcoming album of 8 songs like Kutama and some South African house songs that you will love.

Philanthropist Achai Wiir brings South Sudan peace talks to Uganda through concert

South Sudanese business woman and philanthropist Achai Wiir has not given up on her efforts to reconcile South Sudan as a country. The South Sudanese tycoon and business woman has made all efforts and the latest was with a “Together for peace” concert that ahe organised at former Didis world in Kansanga.

Last Friday 17th of January 2019 ‘Together for Peace’ concert took place at the Wonderworld Auditorium and entrance was absolutely free for all. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Hon. Simon Duku Michael, Ambassador of South Sudan to Uganda who was the Guest of Honor, Lt. Gen Garang Mabil, the chief guest, Brig. Gen. Majier Abdalla Mabior, 1st Counselor and Technical Attaché to South Sudan embassy in Uganda and many more peace delegates from South Sudan. 

The event pulled some of the South Sudane community in Uganda which was the sole aim to unite them as countymen. Ugandans were also not left behind as they too engaged to participate and also have fun on the night.

South Sudanese artists who were fully in attendance also provided memorable performances for the crowd. Legendary, Emmanuel Kembe, John Kudusay, Duop Pur Duop, Silver X, Johnson Jok just to mention a few.

The concert brought a platform for the community to talk about the ongoing peace processes and what everyone can contribute. Several were given an opportunity to express their concerns, appreciations and gratitude, suggestions and general opinions on current matters of peace in the country.

Pastor Bugembe now MC Kats custodian after MC escaped from rehabilitation centre

It is no secret that MC Kats escaped from a rehabilitation centre where he had been held for a week. According to the MC, he could not stand the conditions at the centre so he escaped.

MC Kats rushed to look for Pastor Wilson Bugembe and is currently under his watch. “I feel safe with Pastor Bugembe, he is my OB and one of my favourite pastors” MC Kats said while appearing at the Nansana based church.

Pastor Bugembe has taken on the responsibility to look after the troubled MC.
