East Africa Got Talent award winners Ezekiel and Esther featured in this year’s StarTimes Kampala kids run but also entertained at the Uganda Museum.
The Run dubbed ‘StarTimes Kampala Kids Run,’ attracted hundreds of kids who were running for the betterment of their colleagues.
The main aim of the run was to raise funds to ease access of clean and safe drinking water to those in less privileged areas.
Everything was just in order though it rained heavily but all was well with the kids who still had to complete the 1.5 Km run.
Rarely do you see such young kids bracing the rain for a good cause whose aim and focus is to help the less privileged children in rural schools.
Speaking while flagging off the Run, Hon. Charles Bakkabulindi Minister of State for Sports said that, “I am glad to learn that the Run aims at promoting the health and fitness of children while engaging them in fun activities and promoting their physical and psycho-socio being.
It enhances self-esteem, improves their social interactions and also boosts their talents.
The theme for this year being “Safe drinking water in Primary Schools,” Bakkabulindi said that, “I have been informed that the proceeds from the Run will be used to procure water tanks so as to provide safe drinking water to primary schools in the country side.
Indeed, we all yearn for a world which is conducive for the health of our children irrespective of whether they are in rural or urban areas. This is in relation to Sustainable Development Goal NO.6: “Safe and affordable drinking water for all by the year 2030” and SDG NO.3 which is: “Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all levels.”
He also added that, “as Ministry of Education and Sports, we pledge our full support to this noble cause whose aim is to aid the Ministry in fulfilling its mandate.”
The Triplets Ghetto kids prepared for their performances as they wowed kids who had gathered to enjoy the performances after the Run.
As usual they displayed their magical dance styles and acrobatics among others.
There was also entertainment from Esther, Ezekiel,Challenger and Felister among others that overwhelmed the kids with their performances all day long.
