StarTimes has come through once again for some children in the community. It was in 2003 that a one Isaac Nabwana IGG founded a school named Crane Educational Centre in the slums of Wakaliga. You may know him as the man behind Wakaliwood, the popular film company that has produced local action movies with martial arts as a big element. His work has attracted many to his camp and lately, 5 top film companies from China came to pay him and his school a visit, joined by StarTimes which has been a supporter of the school for a few years now.

The production companies that donated to the school are recognized as the Top 5 best in China. They are: Ciwen Media Group Co. Ltd, Hangzhou Jiaping Pictures Co. Ltd, Shanghai Linmon Pictures Co. Ltd, Daylight Entertainment Co. Ltd, and National Radio and Television Administration. With StarTimes, they gave the children school requirements such as exercise books, sets, school bags, and pencil cases. Crane Educational Centre has a total of 375 kids with 21 members of staff who do their level best for the children. Isaac Nabwana stated that, “I am happy about the gesture because the donations from StarTimes and the Chinese are aimed at easing the conditions in which these children study as well as their general welfare. The Chinese chose my school because it is well known for promoting the Chinese culture especially through Kung Fu training both at school and in the community.”

12 kids made a Kung Fu presentation for the Chinese guests who were grateful for the efforts the school puts in to teach the Chinese culture and also thanked Isaac Nabwana for his work. They shared their intentions of creating a relationship between Uganda and China in regards to film production in future. The children also got to be entertained with a screening of an animation which they enjoyed, and after which, proceeded home.

“StarTimes believes in empowering children in particular because they are the ones who will carry the mantle in years to come. We have had a relationship with this school for some time now and we try to provide what is necessary to help them excel. Seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces makes us happy too. Isaac is doing something positive for his community and we believe that our support encourages and motivates him to soar on. We do our best to contribute to the development of society.” said Cleopatra Koheirwe, the PR Manager at StarTimes
