For porn lovers, here is your time! ODM media, a South African based company financed by Star Times of China is bringing pornographic channels to its bouquet.

About StarSat’s pornographic bouquet, CEO of On Digital Media (ODM), Eddie Mbalo, publicly announced that the organization was self-righteous to bring porn to South African TV including pornography made in Africa in addition to Playboy TV and the hardcore Private Spice channel.

In his statement he said, “We at StarSat are proud to deliver this offering for the first time to South African viewers.”

“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”

Nevertheless South Africa is campaigning against such illicit Channels saying they violate the African culture and rulings. Errol Naidoo of the Family Policy Institute of South Africa says; “Research consistently shows that regular porn consumption leads to addictions and often fuels sexual crimes against women and children. Our government is making it easier for children to be exposed to hardcore pornography on the internet and TV.”

On the other hand, the Ugandan View is different from South Africa’s. According to James Onyango, experienced TV personality in EAC, “the pay television is very competitive and requires an elevated level of investment in both content and infrastructure to successfully penetrate the market, Star times appear to be taking the easy way out as Porn content is very cheap and easily available.”

However, James urged the UCC and the other East African broadcasting and communications regulators to be very careful and seek assurances before giving Star Times a license to offer DTH services.
