There is only one diva, Juliana. After a six year break, the songbird proved that she has only got bigger and better, if I may add, legendary, filling up Serena Victoria Hall both the lower and upper auditorium despite the seemingly pricey tickets each worth shs.100,000!
The two hour show started off at about 8:30pm, with the diva making a sensational entrance in a sexy red dress lighting up emotions as she performed her smash hit “Nabikoowa”. Taking the lively crowd through her catalogue changing attire twice, she got close and personal changing stage, performing in all white denim and top accentuating her hips oozing sexiness as she poured her emotional lyrics and a cover of a Janet Jackson triggering wild cheers with Myko Ouma “massaging melody from the guitar strings”, in Juliana’s words.
She returned to main stage in a more carefree long classical white dress with black stripes and exaggerated slits near reaching her thighs, breaking free barefooted as she gave her fans a reason to dance as she ventured into the classics, the golden African rumba era performing covers of popular Kenyan Rumba music commanding a befitting standing ovation as the older generation broke nostalgic pulling rare strokes while the younger ones in shock and wonder, tried to outdo their elders till Juliana declared to the excited crowd it was over.
Notable guests included Charles Mbire, Prime minister Peter Mayiga, Princess Wasajja, Judith and Alex Heard, Golola Moses, Ian Clarke “Busulwa” and of course the Bigeye Crew of Stuart, Edwin, Mites and yours truly.
Juliana stamped her authority and proved her worth in a memorable show.
