Veteran striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma was on target as defending champions Kampala Capital City Authority FC defeated Lweza Football Club 1-0 at Muteesa II Memorial Stadium in Wankulukuku on Tuesday evening.
Following a barren first half, Sserunkuma netted against his former side in the 54th minute of the game with 2016 MVP Joseph Ochaya providing the assist.
The striker has now scored two goals in two matches while Uganda Cranes left back, Ochaya has two assists and a goal to his name.
Meanwhile, KCCA played their last twenty minutes with a man less after substitute and new recruit Isaac Muleme was carried off with a back injury at a time when all substitutions had already been used.
The victory was the Kasasiro Boy’s first in their five league outings against the Kajjansi based side who now remain pointless after losing their two opening fixtures of the league. The win on the other hand leaves KCCA top of the sixteen team log with six points from two games.
Their next fixture will come Tuesday September 6th against Soana at Lugogo after the Uganda Cranes clash with Comoros in the 2017 AFCON Qualifiers that is slated for September 4th.
