Striker Daniel Sserunkuma has vowed to play his heart out for the Uganda Cranes when they kick start their campaign in the 2013 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup on Friday against Rwanda.

Fresh from winning the Tusker League title with Gor Mahia FC, Sserunkuma said he wants to give his best because the coach, Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, has shown lots of faith in him.

“I have had a good season with Gor Mahia and am hoping to give my best for the national team as well.

“The #SamsungTwitterParty is back! Get ready to party the night away come 19th December at Zone 7 with fellow tweeps. Entrance is 15,000shs. Call 0775439894 for details. Great music and drinks.”

I know it will not be a very easy tournament, but we shall work as a team to try and retain the trophy,” said Sserunkuma, who is targeting a move to Bantus FC in Armenia.

The Cranes, who have been grouped alongside Eritrea, Sudan and arch-rivals Rwanda, will be chasing a record 14thtitle. Under ex-coach Bobby Williamson, the Cranes won four CECAFA titles in five years.

Sredojevic has already admitted that defending the trophy will not be an easy task with the likes of Zambia, Ethiopia and hosts Kenya all vying for the title.

“We are working on a number of things since we arrived in Kenya on Monday.

We shall be ready for Rwanda on Friday and hopefully we can win game one,” added Micho.

Besides Sserunkuma, former Etoile du Sahel striker Emmanuel Okwi, Hamis Kizza (Young Africans, Tanzania) and Khalid Aucho (Tusker FC, Kenya) are expected to steer the Ugandan team.
