Fatuma Nanfuka, widow to the late Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, is in urgent need of medical assistance as she battles a severe kidney-related illness.

Currently bedridden at her sister’s home in Kampala, Nanfuka’s condition has reportedly worsened since mid-June, with her family expressing concern over her deteriorating health.
Her sister, Miriam Kasirye, revealed that despite numerous appeals, they have not received any medical assistance from either the government or Parliament following the death of Ssegirinya.
“She has never been the same since his death. She has been in a terrible state since June 13,” Kasirye said.
Nanfuka, who appeared visibly weak and spoke in a frail voice, described the extent of her suffering. “I have too much pain in my lower abdomen,” she said, adding that the illness has left her unable to carry out basic tasks.
The family is now appealing to the public, government, and well-wishers to intervene and offer any support that could help her get the treatment she urgently needs.
The late Muhammad Ssegirinya, a vocal member of Parliament under the National Unity Platform (NUP), passed away earlier this year after a long battle with illness. His death dealt a heavy blow not only to his constituency but also to his family, which is now struggling to cope with both emotional and health challenges.
