The mother of the late Kawempe North legislator, Muhammad Ssegirinya, has made a heartfelt appeal to Parliament and the public for financial assistance to help her care for his children.

Justine Ssanyu Nakajumba, who is now the primary caregiver for the children, revealed that eight individuals have so far been introduced to her as Ssegirinya’s biological children.
She expressed her struggle to provide for them, stating that most of her limited resources had been used to cater to mourners at Kaddugala-Butale in Masaka, where the late MP was laid to rest.
Nakajumba also lamented the lack of support from the National Unity Platform (NUP), the political party to which Ssegirinya belonged, and urged Parliament to provide urgent financial help.
During a parliamentary session held on Friday to honor the late legislator, Members of Parliament pledged to contribute Shs 300,000 each. The total contribution is expected to amount to Shs 150 million, which will be directed toward supporting Ssegirinya’s family.
Muhammad Ssegirinya passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 37, following a prolonged battle with health complications.
