Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Annet Anitah Among, has instructed the Uganda Police Force to transfer traffic officers Abdallah Tusiime and Mr. Makawa to the Parliamentary Police.
This directive comes as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and bravery in the line of duty.
Officer Abdallah Tusiime gained public attention after a video went viral, showing him bravely directing traffic amid heavy rain last week.
His commitment to duty resonated with many citizens, highlighting the often-unseen challenges faced by traffic officers.
Mr. Makawa, another officer, was recently in the news after being physically assaulted by a woman named Mercy Timbitwire Bashisha while performing his duties.
The Speaker’s order was well-received by several members of Parliament during the session on Tuesday, reflecting a collective recognition of the officers’ sacrifices and the need for support in their roles.
The move underscores the Parliament’s commitment to acknowledging the efforts of law enforcement personnel who serve under difficult conditions.
