The historical match between South Sudan and Mauritania didn’t go on as planned since the game was abandoned just after 10 minutes of play due to heavy rains on Wednesday.
The game was South Sudan’s first appearance in the World Cup qualifiers since being accepted as the youngest nation to join FIFA as a member.
Despite the unfavorable weather conditions on the day, the same cannot be said for the score sheet as it stood at one a piece.
Mauritania opened the scoring as early as the third minute through Boubacar Bagili but Dominic Abui Pretino leveled matters just a few minutes before the game was put to a stop.
FIFA has confirmed that the game will resume today (Thursday 8th) from the point on the clock at which it stopped, at 11.00 local time.
