Come Friday this week all roads will lead to the Kampala Serena Hotel for the South Africa wine festival.
This year marks the 5th edition of the South African wine festival since it was started up by Yogi Birigwa the country manager of South Africa airways.
It has been a long journey for the festival with only 3 wineries participating in the first festival to 15 who have confirmed participation this year.
The festival will feature different wineries from South Africa show casing their products to Ugandan wine consumers.
Uganda has wine producers as well but no wine festival has been organised for the Ugandan consumers to taste Ugandan wine.
Wine producers in Uganda should take a step forward and show case their products at a wine festival in South Africa. There is a lot to learn from South Africa, since South African wineries are some of the best wineries in the world.
South African food and wine expos are a delicious learning experience. Foremost, they offer the fun and flavour of a wine festival, but with added benefits: learning from the best talent in the business, one-on-one time with an expert, and meeting like-minded people who care about wine as much as you do.
Global trends towards sustainable and organic production have changed wine from an area of connoisseur expertise to something that affects and interests us all.
