The Bafana Bafana of South Africa edged the Chipolopolo of Zambia with a 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon in a buildup match played at Orlando Stadium ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
In a very closely competitive tie, it was a barren first half despite all attempts from either side with Zambia being the better team on the attack. Chipolopolo first team goalkeeper and Mamelodi Sundowns based player, Kennedy Mweene suffered an injury just before half-time that saw him substituted for Danny Munyao.
SuperSport United midfielder and Bafana Bafana international, Thuso Phala came off the bench in the second half and scored the only goal on the afternoon in the 81st minute that handed victory to the hosts.
South Africa coach Shakes Mashaba thinks the win was an inspiration for the team ahead of AFCON.
