As the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) continues to shape the game of football in the country, many clubs will face it rough if they fail to manage and take proper control of their players and fans.
This wind of change has kicked off with a 300,000 shillings fine against Soana football club who failed to control their players and fans during a match played against Sports Club Victoria University (SC VU) on 22nd September, 2015 at Kavumba Recreation Stadium.
The players in caution are Dan Wagaluka and Kamadah Ssebagala who were both sent off on the match day according to the referee’s report.
In a letter addressed to Soana’s Chief Executive Office from the Uganda Premier League CEO, Bainamani Bernard, the top flight club has been notified of the fine and suspensions against the two players.
“This is to inform you that the referees’ match report for AUPL match No. 36 Soana vs SCVU played on 22.9.2015b at Kavumba indicates that two of your players Kamadah Ssebagala and Dan Wagaluka exhibited high levels of indiscipline during and after the match. Wagaluka threw and hit a referee with a ball and shown red card. Sebagala attacked and abused match officials immediately after the match and was also shown red card,” reads part of the letter as quoted on the federation’s website.
The letter also states that a certain Soana fan slapped one of the assistant referees as they walked back into the dressing rooms.
To justify the fine, FUFA has cited Article 33(2) (a) and (d) of FUFA Competitions rules as it highlighted all the charges;
• Soana FC fine 300,000/- for failure to control their players and fans. This fine must be paid before Soana’s next league match.
• The suspension of the two players has been extended by a game. This means the duo will miss the next three physically played games.
