Kavumba based side Soana Football Club have completed the signing of former SC Villa play maker Steven Bengo on a one year deal in a continued bid to strengthen their squad so as to compete favorably this season in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Bengo has been a free agent since parting ways with the Jogoos at the end of last season in a sweep that kicked out about 15 players from Villa Park.
“He is with us on a one year deal and has just scored a brace in a warm up game against FUFA Big League side Artland,” club owner Smart Obedi told the Daily Monitor. Soana won the game 8-0.
The attacking midfielder is an experienced player who has featured for almost all the big clubs in the country after breaking out in 2006 at SC Villa.
He played for Villa before joining Tanzanian side Yanga in 2009. He later returned and had stints with URA before joining KCC where he played until the end of the 2013/2014 season.
He then reunited with the 16-time record champions, SC Villa where he was very key in their 2015 Uganda Cup triumph.
Soana also reunited with former star, Francis Olaki who scored a brace in their 4-0 win against Lweza fc at Kavumba Recreational Stadium in Wakiso last week. They now have a couple of experienced players in the names of Dan Wagaluka, Willy Kavuma, Siraje Ssevume and Kamada Ssebagala.
