At Kavumba Recreational grounds in Wakiso, home side Soana FC edged prisons side Maroons FC 3-2 on Tuesday evening in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) to have them officially relegated to the FUFA Big League.

In a five goal thriller, the score line was 2-2 by halftime with Maroons’ Patrick Kaddu scoring a brace that included a penalty in the 39th minute in a game where the visitors came from two goals down to level maters.

Esenu Musa gave his side the lead in the 9th minute while Patrick Asiku Crespo doubled it in the 22 second minute. Esenu scored the winner with eight minutes to full time to send his side to fourth place with 44 points after 27 games while it sealed the fate for bottom side Maroons for their short lived spell in the topflight.

Away to Muteesa II Memorial stadium, visiting side The Saints FC suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the 2011-2012 champions Express FC. Vincent Kayizzi scored from 12 yards (penalty spot) in the 83rd minute of the game to hand the Red Eagles maximum points as they kept in pace with second placed Vipers SC on 45 points in third place. However, Express have played a game more compared to the defending champions.

Elsewhere, Ssentume Joseph scored a 60th minute strike to hand Police FC victory over Sadolin Paints on their visit to Jinja.
