Omulangila Bamweyana Sam Ssimbwa walked off Recreational Grounds in Wakiso with his head high after his side Soana Football Club defeated Police FC 3-0 in the Kavumba derby in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) on Tuesday evening.
Ssimbwa was taking charge of his first Kavumba derby since being named the head tactician at the club after the quitting of coach Ayieko Charles Lukula.
Summer recruit Frank Kalanda from Uganda Revenue Authority FC gave Soana FC a well-deserved lead in the 36th minute, a lead they held onto until half time.
In the second half, Emmanuel Kalyowa doubled the lead for Ssimbwa’s side in the 69th minute before Frank Kalanda struck again to mark his brace on the day in the 78th minute.
Efforts from Sam Timbe’s side for a consolation remained fruitless as they lost 3-0. The precious victory elevated Soana to 3rd place on the league table with 10 points from five games while Police are 11th with five points.
