You’ve just enjoyed a heated session between the sheets. You turn over, exhausted — until she taps you on the shoulder: “I didn’t finish.” Not again, you think. What are you doing wrong?! Well, finally, there is conclusive evidence that it may be more complicated than that you’re simply not trying hard enough, or not doing the right thing. A new study has found that in some women, the clitoris is smaller, and located farther from the vagina, which leads to orgasm problems.
Researchers compared two groups of women — one group reported rarely or never achieving orgasm despite trying while the other reported normal orgasm experience — and found that in the former group, the clitoris was farther from the vagina. These women also had a smaller clitoris on average.
The findings suggest that a smaller distance between the clitoris and the vagina makes it easier for the clitoris to be stimulated during intercourse, said the researchers who detailed their study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
“There’s no G spot. There’s a C spot — the clitoris,” said study researcher Dr. Susan Oakley, an OBGYN at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. “It is the source of a lot of sexual pleasure for the female.”
Even more interesting? Oakley says they don’t know whether it’s the positioning of the clitoris that influences orgasm-having ability, or whether — wait for it — having more orgasms changes the anatomy. So, if your partner orgasms easily it could be because she’s more sexually experienced. Try that on for size. Ahem.
