With just a week the kick-off of the FUFA Big League, only 20 clubs have managed to attain licenses as demanded by the local football governing body.
The 2015/2016 Big League season will kick off on 17th September, 2015, but six clubs are yet to be licensed with Rwenshama said to have been relegated to the third tier after failing to appeal like the rest of the other five clubs that are yet to acquire their licences.
“Out of 26 clubs, only 20 have met requirements the licensing committee set. Six clubs failed to meet the earlier deadline set but appealed except Rwenshama. CRO, Artland, Kira Young, Hope Doves and Entebbe F.C await a decision by the FUFA Appeals Committee. Rwenshama F.C failed to appeal and have thus been demoted to the third division league (Regional League),” Dr Benard Patrick Ogwel, the FUFA club licensing committee chairman revealed yesterday during the weekly press conference at the FUFA house in Mengo, Kampala.
With Rwenshama’s fate seemingly confirmed that they will be playing in the Regional league this season, the other five clubs will await a decision from the FUFA appeals committee to know their fate.
Only two clubs managed to get full season licences with the other 18 getting provisional licences.
Fully Licensed Clubs: Kirinya Jinja S.S and Ndejje University.
