Fast rising singer Janseh Kingsley has penetrated into the music industry today. His lastest songs are ruling the industry. However, his journey to get here hasn’t been easy. His greatest challenge in the music industry was when he felt like he was ready to produce the best music to the crowd but the media was not yet ready for him. Well, he shared with us his music journey.

Briefly tell us who Janseh Kingsley is?

I’m a devoted, hard working person with passion for music and highly committed to success

What first got you into music?

My father has been my greatest inspiration for entering the music industry.

Briefly tell us your music background? Was your family supportive in the first place?

I grew up with music all around me and my family was very supportive. In fact my father had a big dream of me becoming a superstar

What is the saddest moment you can recall when you had just started?

My saddest moment was finding that people who could have pushed and helped me fulfill my dreams couldn’t clarify my capability and ambitions in the music industry. I’ve learned from that though and have a better team now.

How would you describe the music that you typically create?.

The music I do creates the truth, reality, awareness through directing people to real life.

With no doubt your songs are receiving massive airplays, in your thinking, what contributed to this?

With no doubt my label Green Hit Records contributed to that. They’ve pushed my music to another level – now I have fans all over the world.  The music I do creates the truth, reality, awareness through directing people to real life.

Let’s talk about your latest song, butterfly, what is the message behind this song?

Butterfly is a song that describes love, patience, promises and the truth. I recorded it during a Sauti Live session with Mozart Beats

Who writes your songs?

I write all my own songs – lyrics, melodies and harmonies. That’s why they’re all so personal to me – they’re truly an expression of myself from top to bottom.

Which artists would you wish to collaborate with?

I would wish for many collaborators but here in Uganda it would be Pallaso.

What other songs have you recorded?

Aside from Butterfly, I’ve recorded Let it be, Focus, Bar Girl, Alright, Monalisa and much more. My next album will be a collection of these songs and more that I’m working on now.

Do you sing in the shower? What songs?

I do sing in the shower, Ignition by R.Kelly, Ani oyo by Pallaso and my own song – Let it be.

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

I would be a leader of some sort, because I’m so good with communication and leadership.

Where have you performed before?

I’ve performed at Victoria Royal Hotel Entebbe, Comrades Bar Makindye, Heroes in Colour, several high schools, and more. You can watch one of my live performances on the Green Hit Youtube channel.

How do you feel the Internet has impacted the industry?

It’s provided a good platform for the upcoming artists and given them more exposure and a better hope for success.

Which famous female musicians do you admire?

I really admire Rihanna, Cindy Sanyu, and Alicia keys. They’re all very inspiring.

What has been your greatest challenge in the ug music industry?

My greatest challenge in the music industry was when I felt like I was ready to produce the best music to the crowd but the media was not yet ready for me. That’s all changed now that I have a stronger platform and better distribution.

If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I would emphasize on promoting our local culture through music. We have a lot to share with the rest of the world but we need stronger international promotion.

What’s next for you?

Hoping for the best with God’s blessings. I’m working on an album now and look forward to performing live as soon as possible
