Singer Daudi Mugema has come forward with shocking revelations, attributing his battle with cancer to his time spent in Luzira prison.

Mugema, who was previously a healthy man, asserts that his health deteriorated significantly during his imprisonment, leaving him severely ill upon his release.

Mugema’s ordeal began during the 2021 general elections when he was arrested due to his support for opposition figure Bobi Wine. Like many other supporters, Mugema found himself behind bars, where he alleges he endured torture and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

The consequences of this mistreatment became painfully evident as Mugema’s health rapidly declined. Upon seeking medical attention at Mulago hospital, he received the devastating diagnosis of cancer.

The singer maintains that cancer is not a hereditary condition in his family, further reinforcing his belief that his time in prison directly contributed to his illness.

The effects of cancer have left Mugema struggling to perform even the most basic tasks. With swollen feet and debilitating pain, he is unable to work and lacks the means to afford necessary treatment. While one of his legs shows signs of improvement, the other continues to worsen, causing daily discomfort and swelling.

In his own words, Mugema describes the progression of his illness, stating, “The cancer first affected my right leg, then spread to the left, but the right leg is better now. My condition isn’t inherited; it happened while I was in Luzira prison.”
