Singer Alien Skin has been cautioned by Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso to refrain from wearing military attire.
The warning came during a media interview where the female military General emphasized that Alien Skin, not being a soldier, should cease donning military clothing.
Gen. Nalweyiso stated clearly that unless Alien Skin formally joins the national army or possesses legal documentation permitting him to wear military attire, he must desist from doing so.
She underscored her point by saying, “I have immediately refused that. Alien Skin remove our uniform, if you want to put it on, then join the army. Except if you have a document that legalizes you to wear it. Please remove our combat.”
Furthermore, Gen. Nalweyiso expressed her intent to involve security authorities in the matter promptly, stating, “I therefore instruct security authorities to get into this matter before its so late.”
The directive from Gen. Nalweyiso follows concerns regarding Alien Skin’s public appearances in camouflage attire, raising issues of appropriateness and legal authority to wear such clothing outside military contexts.
As this situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Alien Skin will respond to the military’s warning and whether further actions will be taken by authorities to enforce compliance with military dress regulations.
