In Club Gurvnor’s official press release there was no mention about how the fight started, but those who have seen the CCTV surveillance footage say that Johnnie first insulted Nina and when Ivan defended his woman, Johnnie also verbally insulted Ivan and pushed him. In the scuffle, Ivan furiously picked up a glass bottle aiming for Johnnie’s head but missed and instead cut his neck vessel which led to his death due to over bleeding.
Both families recorded statements at Jinja Road police station. However, eye witnesses were nowhere to be seen partly because of fear of being entangled in this mess. Even a top official in the Gurvnor Management when asked about how the fight started said, “I wasn’t there. The incident was in the 40+ section and I was in Guvnor.”
