Kenya’s Anti-drug abuse body has banned the use of 19 popular Shisha flavours that are allegedly laced with Bhang (marijuana), Heroin and Cocaine.
Nacada chairman John Mututho said that anyone caught using or consuming any of the flavours will be prosecuted.
According to sources, Nacada found the 19 flavours from 100 samples they tested for illegal substances. The sampling and testing is ongoing and the list is expected to grow as time grows.
Shisha has gained a lot of popularity in Kenya over the recent years raising concern as most events including top corporate ventures usually allow the sale and consumption of the product.
Shisha is a is a flavored molasses tobacco typically smoked in a hookah.
The flavours banned so far are;
Al Fakher strawberry flavour, Al Fakher orange flavour, Al Fakher two apples with mint flavour, Al Fakher vanilla flavour, Al Fakher two appeals flavour, Al Fakher guava flavour, Al Fakher orange with mint flavour, Al Fakher orange flavour, formulated kuber (positive for morphine), nakhala molasses tobacco apple flavour, strong formulated shisha cocktail, medium formulated shisha cocktail, mild formulated shisha, Al Fakher energy drink flavour, Al Fakher packet strawberry flavour and Al Fakher chocolate with mint flavour.
