Maureen Nantume has opened up about her unique approach to managing house maids, revealing how she creates a nurturing and safe environment for both her children and the people who care for them.

Speaking candidly, Maureen emphasized that communication lies at the heart of her relationship with her domestic workers. “I work closely with my maids. I talk to them first and foremost about all the things I need,” she shared.
Maureen takes time to build mutual understanding and trust. For every new hire, she sets aside about two weeks for adjustment and learning, ensuring that both she and the maid are on the same page regarding expectations.
In a distinctive setup, Maureen employs two maids with clearly defined roles — one focused entirely on childcare, and the other on general household duties. “I know that it’s hard for someone to maintain a home while also catering for children,” she noted.
She added, “If my children are not well, I can never be well.”
Beyond roles and responsibilities, Maureen demonstrates deep empathy toward her staff. “I might not provide for all her desires, but I try my best. If I am out there and see a nice dress, I will bring it to her,” she said.
Her care goes beyond material gifts — she makes sure basic needs are never a burden. “Some people employ maids who have no Vaseline and have to wait until the end of the month to buy sanitary pads. I always provide these essentials free of charge. This girl is my own child,” Maureen said with heartfelt sincerity.
Reflecting on the emotional impact of her maids’ contributions, Maureen expressed joy in seeing her children grow and thrive under their care.
“The babies start being less dependent on me; they always call out and cry for the maid. They are more active; they are learning new things; that’s what really makes me happy,” she said.
