Media personality Sheilah Gashumba has vowed not to call her father’s new wife, Patience Mutoni Malaika—mum, arguing that title remains for her biological mother.
Yesterday, Frank Gashumba formally introduced Malaika to friends and family. Shortly after the celebration, Sheilah took to her X platform to extend her congratulations.
“Congratulations my father Mr. Frank Gashumba on your engagement and Gusaba. You looked soo happy yesterday. Wishing you the absolute best, happiness and love in your new journey with Malaika,” she posted.
However, it was her choice of words that sparked online discussion. Notably, Sheilah referred to Patience as “Malaika” rather than “mum,” which many online observers had expected.
When media personality Simon Kaggwa Njala questioned her decision not to address her father’s wife as “mum,” Sheilah responded, stating, “Unfortunately I can’t, I will only call the woman who gave birth to me ‘mum’ so everyone must calm down. Wama congratulations beautiful Malaika!! I need two siblings.”
