Sheebah Karungi aka “Swagg Mama” emerged victorious in the female artist of the year category for the song “Sweet Sensation” at Hipipo Awards 2020. Other nominated Ugandan artists included; Eddy Kenzo, John Blaq, Spice Diana and Fik Fameica who are also the most nominated artists this year. She thanked all “sheebaholics” for voting and for their continued support.

The initial date for the 9th edition of the prestigious awards ceremony was slated for 14th March at Kampala Serena Hotel but was later postponed to 29th May, 2020 due to unavoidable circumstances. Voting began on 6th of January, done virtually through the official Hiphop Facebook page. The 2020 edition was strong on Africa with nominees coming from over 20 sub-Saharan and North Africa countries.
The Swagg Mama has been at loggerheads with manager Jeff Kiwa for a while with alleged reports of them splitting coming in from different sources. Their stand is still not clear but we can see Sheebah is still winning despite the conspiracy theories surrounding her. The energetic singer also promised her mother a grandchild in not so long but didn’t reveal when. Could she be having a secret lover that we don’t know about? All this is still unclear.
However, more wins at the Hipipo Music Awards came in from other artists including Eddy Kenzo, Bebe Cool, Spice Diana, Fik Fameika, John Blaq, among others. It should be remembered that Sheebah won best female artist of the year award as well as video of the year for song “Siri Zari” back in 2016 during the second edition of Hipipo Awards
Congratulations Sheebah Karungi on your Artist Of The Year Award and to all the winners at the HiPipo Music Awards 2020.
