Sheebah Karungi has been recognised for her contribution to promoting Uganda’s culture after receiving the Outstanding Dignitaries Achievement Award for Outstanding Artistry and Cultural Influence.
The celebrated singer was presented with the award on August 5, 2026, by Ambassador Charles Ssentongo, the Chief of Protocol, on behalf of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Harunah Kyeyune Kasolo. The recognition honours Sheebah’s role in projecting Uganda’s cultural identity across Africa and the rest of the world through her music, influence and achievements.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the award acknowledges the impact Sheebah has made in using her platform to showcase Uganda on the continental and international stage.
Her music and public influence have helped strengthen the country’s cultural image while reaching audiences beyond its borders.
In a statement shared on X, the Ministry said: “Ambassador Charles Ssentongo, the Chief of Protocol, on behalf of the @HonKyeyune the Ag. Minister of Foreign Affairs today presented the @odaawards for Outstanding Artistry and Cultural Influence to @Ksheebah1, recognising her contribution to projecting Uganda’s cultural identity across Africa and beyond. Culture remains a strategic pillar of Uganda’s foreign policy, advancing people-to-people relations, economic diplomacy, tourism, trade and investment while strengthening Africa’s shared heritage.”
