On Sunday, the Uganda national netball team, the She Cranes arrived in Sydney, Australia at dawn and checked in at the Edith Hotel ahead of the Netball world cup.
Later that evening, the She Cranes faced off with New Zealand in their first buildup match, a game they lost 67-46.
They however have two other friendly matches in which they hope to improve their game before the world cup officially kicks off. They will take on Singapore on Wednesday before entertaining Samoa in their last buildup game.
“We are getting acclimatized to the playing surface and the weather. Let’s see how best we cope up with the rest of the buildup games,” coach Rashid Mubiru told Kawowo.
The She Cranes will kick off their World Cup dream with a fixture against Zambia on Friday before playing Figi and Wales in the subsequent fixtures as Uganda marks its first world cup appearance since 1979 in Trindad and Tobago.
