Sharon O, a former member of the renowned Ugandan all-girls singing group The Obsessions, has expressed her desire for a reunion concert and is prepared to contribute half of the event’s budget.

“Since you’re asking for an Obsessions reunion concert, not a bad idea at all. I have half of the event budget, feel free to partner with me,” Sharon O announced in a recent statement.

This announcement follows shortly after the former singing group Blu3 held a highly successful reunion concert at Sheraton Gardens in Kampala.

The Blu3 concert marked their first performance together in nearly 15 years, setting a precedent for former groups in Uganda’s vibrant music scene.

The Obsessions, founded by prominent talent manager Roni Mulindwa in 1999, initially started as a dance group composed of both boys and girls who had just completed their secondary education.

A few years into their dancing careers, the group decided to pursue vocal training and subsequently recorded their first album, “One At A Time.”

In this phase, the boys served as the musical front while the girls focused on dancing. Following their second album, the boys separated from the group.

The all-girls lineup, which included popular artists like Sheebah Karungi, Hellen Lukoma, and Sharon O, continued to make waves in the Ugandan music industry.

They are best known for their early 2000s hits such as “Jangu,” “Bela Mugumu,” “Begonza,” “Dalu,” and “Tembele.”

Sharon O’s call for a reunion concert has sparked excitement among fans, eager to see the iconic group perform together once again.

With half of the event’s budget already secured by Sharon O, the possibility of an Obsessions reunion concert seems more attainable, inviting other stakeholders and fans to join in making this nostalgic event a reality.
