South African authorities have announced the apprehension of a seventh suspect in connection with the tragic murder of renowned rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend, businessman Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

The arrests, occurring between April 2023 and the latest on December 14, have shed light on the grim details surrounding the targeted attack.

According to reports from the South African police, investigations have revealed that AKA was the primary target of the assailants. The initial plan to carry out the shooting while he was in his car was foiled as he extended his time outside a restaurant. Tragically, this resulted in Tibz being caught in the crossfire, leading to the fatal outcome.

Shockwaves reverberated across South Africa following the duo’s fatal shooting outside a Durban restaurant a year ago. Despite confirming that hitmen were hired specifically to target AKA, authorities have yet to disclose the motive behind the killings.

All suspects involved in the attack reportedly received equal compensation for their roles in the crime. This latest arrest follows the police’s earlier announcement of six individuals detained during a comprehensive year-long investigation.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the police, verified the apprehension of a 30-year-old suspect, bringing the total number of individuals in custody to seven. Additionally, it has been revealed that some of the suspects are also implicated in unrelated murder cases, underscoring the gravity of the situation.

The ongoing investigation into the murder of AKA and Tibz signifies a concerted effort by law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice and provide closure to the families and communities affected by this senseless act of violence.
