Sports Club Victoria University has today expelled experienced attacking midfielder Mike Serumaga for indiscipline.
“The player has been expelled from the team hotel and sent home after missing a team meeting on Sunday evening. Serumaga sneaked out of the team hotel and returned under the influence of alcohol,” stated the Media and Communication manager, Leon Ssenyange.
The team is preparing for a crucial away match in Lubumbashi, DR Congo, on Saturday against CS Don Bosco in the first leg of the Confederation Cup preliminary round.
Last week the team also suspended two Cranes players, Dennis Iguma and Savio Kabugo, for failing to report to camp after the national team had returned from the African Nations Championship in South Africa.
“We have discussed the issue and decided the best thing was to send the player away from camp. Such behaviour cannot be entertained at all,” head coach Morley Byekwaso told MTNFootball.com.
The player has been ordered to leave camp and he will not be part of the traveling squad for Saturday’s engagement in DR Congo. Serumaga, who has been in and out of the national team, has also played professional football in Sweden, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
