Senegal has been selected to host the 2015 African U-20 Championship, the ministry of sports announced on Wednesday in Dakar.
In a statement, the ministry said three stadiums had been picked for the tournament set for March in 2015 after a workshop with the Football Federation.
The facilities are Demba Diop and Leopold Sedar Senghor both in the country’s capital Dakar and Caroline Faye stadium in Mbour.
However, the above centres need important renovation to be able to host the continental event, according Souleymane Boune, who heads competitions department at the FA.
The 2015 African U-20 Championship will be the 20th edition of the tournament reserved for players of 20 years and below. The semi-finalists will qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The previous edition was held in Algeria in 2013 and won by Egypt.
