Uganda’s Muaythai kick boxer, Umar Semata has asked for a re-match after losing his World title to Australian opponent Piotr Lagodzki on Sunday.
After the collapse of the fight on Independence Day due to poor time management, power outage and a heavy downpour, Semata clashed with Lagodzki later on Sunday in the World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) intercontinental welterweight title fight at Lugogo but only to lose despite his impressive start.
Semata led in the first four rounds but lost by technical knockout after losing consciousness and failing to get on for the last round of the fight, staggering in the ring as if suffering a concussion.
“Semata couldn’t see clearly and it looks like one of Lagodzki’s spinning elbows caught a vein near his eye which made him lose sight,” reads a quote onwww.monitor.co.ug.
“It’s the nature of the sport, you win some and lose some. I was okay in all the four rounds. Going into the fifth round, I just saw my team holding me. I didn’t know what had happened to me. My team has asked for a rematch but Ugandans should know it’s the nature of the Muaythai fight,” Semata said after regaining some bit of consciousness.
It’s said that the rematch will take place in Australia.
