Yesterday, Uganda’s football wrote new history in terms of development as 16-time record league champions and 9-time Uganda Cup winners, Sports Club Villa unveiled their five year sponsorship deal worth 1.3Billion shillings with Pay TV, StarTimes.
The mega sponsorship deal that will see the Jogoos receive Shs 260million per season was signed on Wednesday at Villa Park, Nsambya where StarTimes was represented by Aldrine Nsubuga, the company’s marketing manager among other officials.
While addressing the crowd at Villa Park, Nsubuga said that making a deal with Uganda’s most successful club was unavoidable given its wide fan base.
“Besides being the most successful in the country, SC villa has the biggest fan base and arguably the best fans. It’s a great deal and as StarTimes, we delighted to partner with a such great club,” reads a quote on Kawowo.
Apart from advising the fans to always come in plenty to watch their games, the outspoken Aldrine also cautioned the fans, Villa players as well as management on boycotting games and indiscipline cases while on the pitch.
SC Villa now joins KCCA FC as the two StarTimes sponsored football clubs in the Uganda Premier League while the same company also sponsors Basketball league record champions Falcons.
At the same function, H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni through the Sports Minister Hon. Charles Bakkabulindi delivered the bus he promised to SC Villa during the Villa@40 ceremony back in July.
In front of a huge crowd of Villa fans, a brand new bus decorated in Jogoo colours, registration number UAX 480R was handed over to the club president Eng. Immanuel Ben Misagga.
