Each day that goes by, we draw closer to the return of the second round of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) and to prepare for its return, record champions SC Villa will entertain Gor Mahia in club friendly.
The tie against the Kenyan Premier League reigning champions is slated for Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Nakivubo Stadium. The development was confirmed by the Jogoos CEO, Ivan Kakembo on Friday saying that the Kenyan giants will be in Uganda by Tuesday.
“The Kenyans will jet in on Tuesday and we believe that this match will push us a long way in preparing our team for the CAF Confederations Cup tie against Sudan’s Khartoum Al Watani FC slated for February 13 in Sudan. The match will act as a fundraiser for the Sudan trip,” Kakembo is quoted on Kawowo.
Gor Mahia will be jetting in when their league arch rivals, Tusker FC are already in the country for friendly matches with Uganda Premier League clubs. Tusker who play champions Vipers SC today (Saturday 30th at St Mary’s Kitende) are camped at the FUFA technical center in Njeru, Jinja and will have other buildup matches against Jinja duo; Sadolin Paints and JMC on days that will be communicated soon.
