16 time league record champions and 9 time Uganda Cup winners Sports Club Villa yesterday edged Sudanese side Al Khartoum by 1-0 in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Fresh Makerere University Soft Engineer graduate Tadeo Lwanga scored the only goal of the game as the Uganda Cup reigning champions beat Al Khartoum to hold a one goal advantage ahead of the reverse fixture.

The Jogoos fly back home today and are expected to touch Entebbe international airport at around 6:20pm. The two sides will face off again on Friday 26th February in the return leg at Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium with the aggregate winner seeking to progress to the next stage of the competition
