Winning the seasonal Uganda Cup is an automatic ticket to play in the CAF Confederations Cup, however, upon qualification a club must confirm whether they will be participating in the continental tournament.

The 9-time Uganda Cup winners Sports Club Villa have now confirmed that they will be taking part in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup through a letter from the club written by CEO Ivan Kakembo to FUFA.

“We are in receipt of the communication from SC Villa regarding their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. However they will be subject to CAF Licensing before they are allowed to take part,” Ahmed Hussein, the FUFA spokesperson confirmed the development to the federation’s website.

In related news, Azam Uganda Premier League champions, Vipers have also confirmed their participation in the CAF Champions League next season.
