Forget all the chaos that happened in Ntungamo on the 6th June leading to the game being aborted in the 72nd minute, SC Villa are the new champions of the Uganda Cup 2015 after thrashing Kampala Capital City Authority FC 3-0 yesterday at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
With Kenyan referees presiding over the game, KCCA were thumped in a fair-and-square game. The ‘Blues’ took a first half lead after Augustine Nsumba headed home in the 32nd minute despite KCCA looking the better side at the start on the game.
After recess, the pressure and tension continued between the two sides as KCCA hunted for an equalizer while Villa were eager to keep their lead. In the 66th minute of the game, Abdul Karim Kasule doubled the lead for Villa before Yesseri Waibi sealed the score sheet with the last nail into the ‘Kasasiro Boys’ coffin in the dying minutes of the game.
The tremendous victory handed Villa their 9th crown of the annual tournament and one behind all-time winners Express FC while KCCA remain third on the trophy count with 8 crowns.
The win also saw SC Villa claim their third victory against KCCA out of the four times the two sides have clashed in a Uganda Cup final – 1987, 1990 and 2015. KCCA only edged Villa in the 1983 final.
