Sauti Sol, Ali Kiba snub the Uganda Entertainment Awards

Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol and Tanzanian sensation Ali Kiba snubbed the Uganda Entertainment Awards held on Friday evening at Victoria Hall, Kampala Serena Hotel.

The organisers had announced, just days to the event, that they had managed to strike a last-minute deal with Sauti Sol to see them to return to Uganda even when the “Sura Yako” hitmakers had performed at the Club Mega Fest the previous week as part of their Live and Die in Afrika Tour in Uganda.

Sauti Sol were billed to the headline the ceremony alongside Nigerian songstress Yemi Alade, and Ali Kiba who was also a no-show.

The organsiers, not short on humor, instead brought in another surprise act from Tanzania, the little known Scorpionz Dancers, but, Ali Kiba’s shoes were too big for them to fill, and their performance almost went unnoticed.

Meanwhile, even the biggest performer of the evening, Yemi Alade left revelers feeling cheated. The “Johnny” hitmaker left stage midway her second song just as revelers were beginning to warm up to her performance. Not even a promise that she would come back for a mega concert could uplift the dampened mood at Victoria hall.
