Real Santana; Naturally funny, hard working when he wants to be, laid-back, outgoing, intelligent and generally a cool dude.
2. I understand you are a Contract Lawyer, If you had to choose between law and music, what would you go with?
Music because it lets me bring out my fun side, keeps me young, helps me communicate what I feel and besides all, I get to do what I love.
3. Music and the law, which came first for you and how do you balance the two?
I escaped from school in primary four to go watch Shanks VVD perform, got nicknamed DISCO MAN. Wrote my first song in Primary six. I spent most of my secondary school on stage and entertainment, obviously music was my first love! I did law because I was smart; I wanted a challenge and Law offered that plus my mum wanted a lawyer.
4. How do I balance the two?
Under law, my boss understands my position so he hands me dealings that favor me; doesn’t expect me in office at 9am and mostly hands me assignments plus there are deadlines, so I find time to do other things.
5. How would you describe your type of music?
My musical style is witty Hip-hop. It’s meant to put a smile on someone’s face, entertain but also inspire.
6. What’s going on in the music garage, any upcoming projects?
Last year it was about fitting in, this year it’s about standing out. I am dropping my first solo studio Album titled ‘FOREPLAY’ consisting of 14 songs. You should also expect collaborations with a lot of top artistes plus collabos with in 100acres, 2014 we are flying!
7. Are you dating someone, who is she?
Am still single at moment. My grandma is complaining though. Hehe…
8. You sang a great jam called “Nembyelabila”, are you that forgetful like the song suggests?
Nah, on the contrary am very principled but most of the people around me are not, they forget the smallest things.
9. Any future plans for 100AcresMusic?
100acres Ent is a music label. This year expect artistes like; Glen Fame, J-Austins, M.I.C, BIG ST rising up. Also we are doing franchising… T-shirts/Tops, Baseball caps, among others. We also look forward to opening up our own studios/video company, God willing of course!
10. Last but not least, tell us something about the Twaweza Campaign.
The Twaweza campaign basically cautions society to ACT, society does alot of talking and little of acting. Today people have the power to act and change a few things that may cause injustice or unfairness but they choose not to because its easier and they feel its someone else’s burden.
‘BE THE CHANGE THAT YOU WANT TO SEE’ is one way of putting it. Am a Twaweza Ambassador because most of my music talks about issues that affects society.
The Message in ‘Nembyelabila’ is that people should not forget their duty to society. The message in ‘Byagezesa’ is that you shouldn’t be afraid to try something new, it could be a vehicle for change. The massage in ‘Oyogela Bubi’ is that people are not cautious enough about what they say and do. Basically TWAWEZA is bringing Positive Change in society and acting NOW!
