Samsung Replaces Its Head of Mobile Design

Samsung has replaced its head of mobile design following mixed reviews for its latest Galaxy smartphone.

Reuters reports that Chang Dong-hoon, Samsung’s VP in charge of mobile design, offered to resign last month and will be replaced by Lee Min-hyouk.

Samsung confirmed the executive changes to Mashable, but declined to comment on whether the moves were related to criticism for the Galaxy S5 phone.

“The realignment enables Executive Vice President Dong-hoon Chang to focus more on his role as Head of Design Strategy Team, the company’s corporate design center which is responsible for long-term design strategy across all of Samsung Electronics’ businesses, including Mobile Communications,” a rep for Samsung said in an emailed statement to Mashable.

In Mashable‘s review of the phone last month, Pete Pachal described the Galaxy S5 as the “upgrade you can skip.”

“With each supposedly standout feature, I couldn’t help but think about how they didn’t really make the phone stand out that well,” Pachal wrote. “Other phones have most of them, by and large with better execution.”
