Ugandan comedian Salvado has lashed out at Uganda Revenue Authority over a bad experience that he got at the Airport.
According to the comedian, the tax body has been discriminative on Ugandans. “The level of discrimination against your fellow countrymen is just ridiculous,” Salvado started.
“I’ve been checked 3 times before on suspicion that I could have smuggled in goods without wanting to pay for taxes even when I just have hand luggage because they assume we all travel abroad to shop yet the white man with loads of luggage is left to walk without any hustle. After the third time I said to myself if this ever happens. I’m going to cause fracas and guess what last night with my two bags I’m walking out of the airport just behind 2 white guys who had a lot of luggage like they were going to start a country and you guessed right they walked through and they asked me to pass my luggage through that security check machine,” he continued to narrate his story.
“I was like hell no came out fuming. They sent police for me. I kept walking police followed me till the long term parking area and I explained to the one that looked like the boss and he said; “the problem these people are like that”. My brothers and sisters working at Customs, chances of that muzungu man helping you or your relative are few he comes, makes his money and leaves. I’m a success story and I know I’m destined for greatness. Chances of me helping you or your relative are higher. Treat me well you never know what tomorrow holds,” Salvado concluded.
We will keep you posted.
