Ugandan dance crew Inviciblez Dance Unit (IDU) left a lasting impression at the recently concluded Sakata Mashiriki dance competition held in Kenya that attracted several dance crews from the East African region. They may have failed to win the grand cash prize, but they definitely won the hearts of many including the judges.
Judge Joanne, known for her tell-it-like-it-is attitude on Sakata Mashariki, has revealed that she was inspired by the Ugandan dance crew. The longest standing female judge on the show praised IDU for their flawless choreography and commended them on their great dancing skills.

“Thank you for reminding Kenyan dancers that dancers to not need to sacrifice their technique for the sake of entertaining the crowd. Thank you for making us think that the stage was made of bouncy rubber. Thank you for inciting in my heart anew fire for all things dance as I sat there and watched you sail through clean choreography. All the best as you go back to Uganda and make your country proud as the second runner’s up.” She said in a blog post.
IDU, the team from Kasese, came a close second to Kenya’s The Band which was crowned champions of the dance competition. IDU walked away with a cash prize of Kshs 300,oo0 while The Band bagged Kshs 1million.
